The world of start-ups is exciting and full of opportunities. Yet although more and more women are becoming self-employed, they are still under-represented in the start-up scene. Women are particularly under-represented at the top in capital-intensive and technology-oriented sectors. This is precisely where the innovative FEMTRICE project at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg comes in, which we expect to launch in March 2026. The aim of the project is to help you realise your entrepreneurial dreams whilst significantly increasing the proportion of women founding businesses at OVGU. These businesses often help to close the gender pay gap and promote an inclusive working culture.
Why FEMTRICE?
Studies show that companies led by women often adopt a different management style, one that focuses on cooperation and sustainability. Nevertheless, women remain a minority in the start-up scene. According to a study by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, women account for only around 20% of those receiving funding under the EXIST programme. The FEMTRICE project aims to create an environment in which women feel encouraged to start and grow their own businesses.
What does FEMTRICE offer?
The FEMTRICE programme comprises a comprehensive range of support measures:
- Expertise and coaching: As part of the “Brave Business Builder”, you will not only gain fundamental business knowledge but also receive specific coaching to help you further develop your business idea and adapt it to the market.
- Entrepreneurial support from female mentors: Experienced female mentors are there to support you. These women have already proven that they can succeed in their fields and are keen to share their knowledge and experience with you.
- Events and networking opportunities: From workshops and bootcamps to pitch training, FEMTRICE offers you numerous opportunities to expand your network and present your ideas to investors and other female entrepreneurs.
